If I ever, become a teacher, I’ll teach my students that an average-sized football field, Measures 1.32 acres. And that every six seconds, 1.32 acres of a rainforest destroyed.

I’ll teach them that the world is never fair, That you will get discriminated, and people will hurt you with insults and barricades, But I’ll teach them that hatred is not a reflection of you, But that of the person hurting you. I’ll teach them to, Pick up that hatred with their hands, and hand it back to their tormentor, And tell them, “I’m sorry you’re so angry.”

I’ll teach them to look at the world with love, Instead of frustration and anger, I’ll teach them that they can push the limits of imagination, That they can accomplish the anything, simply by believing in themselves.

There was a time when flying seemed as impossible as going into outer space, But humans have gone to the moon, and beyond, And airplanes are as common as pigeons.

I’ll craft them wings, that I know they’ll learn to use, I’ll mix in a little magic in their lives, that I hope they’ll learn to treasure, Because magic is hard to come by, As well as my happy-go-lucky point of view.

But I hope they’ll learn more than derivative equations in that year, I hope they’re hearts will beat a little faster at the sight of a rainbow, And I hope they tell their kids about the crazy year they had with me, Because that would be the greatest of all.
